Makeup for Beginners, Vol. 2: Foundation

15 Aug

There are thousands upon thousands of makeup foundations out on the market.  Some claiming to “brighten and tighten” the skin.  Some even claim to take 10 years off of your appearance!

Can one product really do all that?  Well, it comes down to the age-old saying, “if it sounds too good to be true, than it probably is.”  Foundation can’t do the same thing that surgery can.  However, that’s not to say it doesn’t serve a purpose.  It can improve your appearance and even help protect your skin.   Continue reading

MAC 167SH Brush, Review

13 Aug

Makeup trends come and go, but a good brush always has a place in your collection.

I picked up this little guy (no seriously, it’s little) on a whim.  I knew I didn’t need another powder brush, but the limited edition siren was going off in my head.  I didn’t want to miss out on something that could potentially be wonderful!  So, did they little guy disappoint? Continue reading

How To Layer Blush for Longer Wear Time

2 Aug

Depending on your makeup and lifestyle, blush can sometimes rub off during the day, leaving your once-flushed cheeks looking pale and sallow. Summertime can make this problem worse, with high temperatures cause makeup to melt off the face.

Follow these steps in layering blush to lengthen its wear time. Continue reading

The Clarisonic: My Thoughts

14 Jun

I decided to finally do this post because I repeatedly keep getting asked the question:  What do you think about the Clarisonic?

A legitimate question it is, after all, it’s a hefty investment for a skin care product (averaging around $180).  I remember asking the same thing before I finally took the plunge and purchased one myself.  So, without further adieu…

Lets get started! Continue reading

Sonia Kashuk Keeps My Hair in Line

5 Jun

I’m a skin care and make up gal, I rarely spend time and effort on my hair.  I’m lucky enough to have pretty low maintenance hair, it’s long and stick straight, and when I get fed up with it I rock a side braid.

That being said, I still couldn’t pass up this adorable hot pink brush by Sonia Kashuk.

May Glam Bag, 2012

16 May

You know what, I’m going to be honest with you guys:  I had a lousy day yesterday.  I almost tripped over a dead deer (!) on my morning run, and it was all downhill from there.  After I got home from a long day, I washed my face and plopped my fanny in front of the computer.  That’s when I saw…

My May Glam Bag had arrived!  It was sitting so nicely on top of my mouse pad.  It’s just like it knew I needed a pick-me-up.  What’s inside?  Take a peek! Continue reading

Battle of the Eyeliner Brushes

10 May

Eyeliner brushes, how much can you really say about them?  Pencil eyeliners don’t need them.  Liquid eyeliners come with their own applicators.  So, why do you need an eyeliner brush?

The answer: gel eyeliner.  You have the control of the pencil eyeliner, but the precision and lasting power of liquid liner.  However, gel liner comes in a pot therefore you need to get a brush to apply it to your lids.

Cue, our next smack down:

EcoTools Kabuki Set, Review

3 May

I’m always on the lookout for any good beauty find, but when it comes to brushes I’m a fanatic.  I can usually talk myself out of buying that 14th purple eyeshadow, or another bright pink nail polish… but if I see a cosmetic brush marked down on clearance IT’S MINE.

You can imagine my delight when I found this with that delightful orange sticker on this at my local Target.

Oh, and the best part?

It would’ve been a CRIME not to purchase this, right?  Check it out! Continue reading
