A not so fine scrub from Befine

24 Jul

I got this in my Birchbox a few months ago and was excited to try it!

Great packaging, so colorful.  Then the product must be good, right?  Right??

It’s the Befine Exfoliating Cleanser.

Website description:  This daily mini-facial for your skin melts away dirt and debris, instantly brightening and improving your skin’s clarity.  The delicious medley of brown sugar, crushed almonds and soothing oats gently removes damaged skin cells.  This multi-tasking essential is a delight for your skin!

Sample size

How to use:  This product is a cleanser and exfoliator in one.  It starts out as a scrub when you first apply it to the face, then as you rub it in it foams up into a cleanser.

Not able to review the moisturizer because Birchbox sent an expired sample

My thoughts:

Texture:  1 word:  OUCH.  It feels like I’m rubbing rock candy on my face.  The particles are large, uneven, and grainy.

Scent:  It is said to have an almond scent, but I think it has a strong molasses scent.  And I think it stinks.

Overall:  It will probably not come as a surprise, but I do not like this product at all.  The scrub is way too harsh (you don’t need pain to get good results!) and quite frankly I cannot stand the scent.  I like the idea of combining the cleanser and scrub, but unfortunately, this one is a big miss for me.  I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone simply because nobody needs to scrub their face this hard.  There are better (and less expensive) products out there.

Befine markets themselves as being “food skin care,” although lots of products use the same ingredients (it’s not uncommon to see brown sugar, almonds, and oats in any skin care product).

Glitter rating: 0.5 / 5

The Befine Exfoliating Cleanser is $24.00 for 0.4oz.  You can purchase it anywhere that sells Befine, or here online.

Have you guys tried anything from Befine?  What do you think of them?

Rock candy! That’s hands down the best and most accurate description. Who designs some of these products anyway? Sheesh!

Leave some sparkle love
