Fun in the Sun with Stila Beach Palettes

1 Jan

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Did you guys have fun last night?  I hope you’re feeling okay this morning!  🙂

What better way to ring in the new year than to forget about the cold weather and dream about being on an exotic beach somewhere… sigh.  Is it time to start planning my summer vacay yet?

One way to help your mind escape the cold weather (and possibly, your hangover) is to check out the Stila Beach Palettes!

Cute, right?  Check them out!

First up we have “Living the Life in Laguna

My thoughts:  The packaging is great!  It measures 5in tall and a little over 2.5in across, perfect for traveling.  It has a magnetic closure so be careful if you are going to throw it in your purse.

They eyeshadows are nice, they are pigmented and blend well.  While they’re pretty good quality, I wouldn’t say they’re as nice as the Stila full size eyeshadows.

Top: sand dollar, sunset. Bottom: cove, bonfire.

Top: seashell. Bottom: pacific coast highway

The top is meant to be a highlighter, and the bottom is a blush.  These were duds for me, they apply chalky with little pigment.

Overall:  It’s a great value!  I like the color palette too, they did a good job of putting the colors together.  It’s great if you like colors that are warmer!

Next up is “Wonderful in Waikiki

My thoughts: The eyeshadows are really nice in this palette!  Pigmented, velvety, and blendable.

Top: wahine, sarong. Bottom: coconut, surf.

I like that they included a bright blue for a pop of color.  I like the formula better in this one compared to the “Living the Life in Laguna” palette.

Top: north shore. Bottom: hanauma boy.

The top is meant to be a blush and the bottom is meant to be a bronzer.  If you are fairer skinned, these will be a little dark for you.  The blush is a little orange, but if you use a light hand and a fluffy brush it should come out nicely.

Overall: My favorite of the two, I like to color combination and the quality of the products.  However, I tried the “look” that Stila had suggested for this palette and it turned out horribly.  It says to apply “wahine” from the lash line to the brow bone to start with… and that just made me look a little crazy.  I would suggest finding your own way to wear the colors.

Glitter rating for Living the Life in Laguna: 3 / 5

Glitter rating for Wonderful in Waikiki: 4 / 5

You can purchase the Stila Travel Palettes on their website, and you may still be able to find some at Sephora and Ulta.  They are $9-14 each, limited edition.  Each eyeshadow contains 0.15oz ea, and the blush/bronzer/highlighters are 0.11oz ea.
